Amplifiers Plus

The Fender page.

Picture
Fender amps have been around since the late 1940s. Leo Fender was relentless in designing and building the best amps for working musicians, and most of the amps Fender built are still around today. Many classic sounds. Leo had a great team of people around him to make these amps available to the world.

Vintage Fender.

Every older Fender amp made before 1980 has it's own voice. From the small tweed Champ to the mighty Twin Reverb, they are all great.
Most of these older amps, if they have not been regularly serviced by a qualified technician, will require some major component repair. In general, all power supply filter capacitors, all preamp bypass capacitors and the bias power supply filter capacitor will have to be replaced. What most people do not know is that electrolytic capacitors made at that time had a limited life. Usually 10-15 years. Many of these old capacitors will continue to function, especially of the amplifier is used regularly. However, the consequence of having a power supply capacitor short-out can be disastrous; current draw through the power supply can burn up a power transformer, causing an expensive and value-depreciating repair. If a power supply capacitor opens up or loses it's value, your amp will hum and sound bad.
The repairs that Rich can provide to your vintage and older Fender amp can be as simple as minimum component repair and setup to just get your amp working, to a comprehensive check and replacement of all out-of-value parts (recommended). A complete cleanup and testing is always provided. Old parts are returned to you, upon request, so they can stay with the amp for originality.
Rich has connections to many of the well-known repair gurus in the USA, and can get any info needed to complete your repair properly.
